Chemistry is the study of the materials that make up everyday life. All materials - including plastics, fuel and metals - are made of chemicals, and understanding these unlocks the doors to our physical and natural world.
Learners will be introduced to chemical facts, ideas and practical laboratory techniques. They will learn to handle and process information, evaluate procedures and draw conclusions. The study of Chemistry contributes to their general education by making them aware of the applications of science in everyday life, providing a suitable base for further study, training or work. Pupils are assessed on 3 course objectives; Knowledge & Understanding, Problem Solving skills and Practical Abilities.  Practical Abilities is assessed entirely in class. A grade is awarded based on demonstration of a series of practical skills and assessed investigative work.
