S1 AND S2 - CfE ENGLISH

The English S1 course begins with pupils reflecting on self - this reflection is linked with Modern Languages and Art where they explore other cultures through language and portraiture in Art. They will learn to be reflective through writing, speaking about themselves and reading others reflections. In term 2 they will study poetry, writing and becoming poets & reading and criticising the works of others. In term 3 they will study media, producing and critically analysing a variety of media while in term 4 they will concentrate on the art of talk and individual presentation. Throughout the course they will study a variety of prose and language structures to enable them to express themselves in a variety of contexts. The course is part of a three year programme & directly dovetails with the S2 & S3 courses. They will be encouraged to read for pleasure throughout the 3 years from S1 to S3 and beyond.
