SEVERE WEATHER INFORMATION

As well as checking the school and council websites, parents may also wish to check the Met Office website for the Stirling Area. This may be done by clicking here:

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/ta/ta_forecast_warnings.htm

The Met Office issue THREE types of warnings:

ADVISORIES

These are issued by 1300 daily as routine, though they may be updated at other times if required. They indicate confidence of expected severe or extreme weather.

EARLY WARNINGS

These are issued when the Met Office has 60% or greater confidence that severe weather is expected in the next few days.

FLASH WARNINGS

Flash Warnings of severe or extreme weather are issued when the Met Office has 80% or greater confidence that severe weather is expected in the next few hours.

Early Warnings and Flash Warnings supersede Advisories when confidence levels are 60% or greater.

Decisions regarding school closure due to severe weather are made on a daily basis.  Though  the majority of our pupils live locally, the vast majority of our staff do not. In the event of severe weather, account will have to be taken of the ability of staff to get in to school. Every effort will be made to keep parents informed through this website and the council website. Please check the status of the school via Stirling Council before making travel and transport arrangements for pupils

Local situations can rapidly change.  Updates may be found on the live Stirling Council website:  http://www.stirling.gov.uk/index/council/news/disruptionsclosures.htm

or from the Contact Centre on 0845 277 7000.

Where possible this section and the 'Latest News' of this website will also be updated in the event of  school closure. Please give careful consideration to your travel arrangements and please be aware that home to school transport may be disrupted.
